Duck Day Visit Program

What is Old McDonald’s Farm, Inc.? OMF is a nonprofit, children’s charitable organization providing educational experiences in a hands-on, therapeutic farm setting to students in the greater Portland/Vancouver area.

The Duck Day Visit Program package was developed to give young children their first exposure to the farm. This program is designed for preschool children that are 4-5 years of age. Great, hands-on opportunities to meet and greet some of our 30+ resident farm animals are available. Plus, children will enjoy sitting on an old tractor, planting seeds in the dirt and mounting a stationary (metal) pony.

When arriving at the farm, children will go through a short orientation to learn the safety rules and expectations. They will then explore a variety of learning centers. Children will also receive an age appropriate Farm Activity Book to take home. Program start times are between 9:00 and 11:00 a.m.

Please split children into small groups ranging from 5 to 6 students only before you arrive. Each child and adult should wear large, easy-to-read nametags (first names only are fine). Due to space constraints, 1-2 adults per small group only please. Children with special needs may require a higher adult/child ratio, please discuss this with OMF staff prior to coming.

The Duck Day Visit Program is approximately 1 hour in length. To run this Program package, the minimum number of students required is 10 with a maximum of 25. The cost is $3.00 per child. Accompanying adults are free but we do ask them to work. To enhance your visit to the farm, adults will be asked to teach students in small groups, join students in activities and model good, “can do” attitudes and behaviors.

Partial payment is acceptable or scholarships are almost always available. Please make arrangements with OMF staff. No student will be turned away due to financial constraints.
