WHAT IS OLD MCDONALD'S FARM, INC. (OMF)?
OMF is a nonprofit, charitable organization. We provide hands-on, structured, educational
experiences for children using livestock, agriculture, gardens and natural resources.
OMF is located on a 68-acre farm that is a safe, beautiful, educational site for
children. We have indoor facilities as well. Additionally, we have 28+ animals
which include horses, cow, goats, sheep, pig, geese, chickens, duck, rabbits,

WHAT IS THE JR. VET. EQUINE CAMP?
If you have horses or would like to learn how to care for them or if you are
interested in becoming a veterinarian or veterinarian's technician then this is
the class for you. Enjoy an enriching, educational week. You can learn to assess
and diagnose an equine with our expert Veterinarian.
WHO CAN ATTEND THE JR. VET. SUMMER CAMP AT OMF
Students in 4th through 9th grade during the 2005/2006 school year.
WHEN IS THE JR. VET. SUMMER Camp?
It runs July 11-15. A maximum of 15 students will be allowed with a minimum
of 12 students required.
WHAT IS THE COST?
The cost is $169 per student. For two or more students from the same family,
we do offer a 10% discount on the second or for more children. With each paid
registration of a friend (as a result of your recommendation), receive $5 off
your registration cost. Please inform us of this. We will try to offer
scholarship help to those that qualify. Classes fill up quickly so reserve
your space today!
WHAT SHOULD THE STUDENT BRING?
Dress in appropriate "farm" attire (boots or sturdy shoes, coats, long pants,
etc.) and for the weather. No sandals, open-toed, or open-heeled shoes allowed.
Corbett is generally colder than in town. Each student is to bring
well-fitted leather, work gloves and a well-fitted, riding or bicycle helmet.
Due to insurance restrictions, all students must wear long pants, sturdy and
tied shoes, gloves and helmets in order to ride horses. Please help us to
ensure the success of your student by equipping him/her appropriately. Please
make prior arrangements if you need help acquiring any of these items. Students
may bring shorts to change into later. Students also need to bring their own
healthy, cold lunch every day.
NEED HELP WITH TRANSPORTATION?
Carpooling with friends is welcomed and encouraged. Click

We do have a bus to transport a limited number of students. Transportation is on a
'first come-first served' basis. An 8:20 am pick-up is available for Jr. Vet. Equine
Camp. The Camp drop-off time is 4:05 pm. Transportation is $30/week. Pick-up and
drop-off will be offered behind Point West Credit Union at 718 NE 12th Ave. (across
I-84 from the Lloyd Center). Please be on time, the bus cannot wait more than five
minutes. **Please Note: Transportation will not be provided on the first morning
of the first day of all eight of our camps and also not for:
" Jr. Vet. Equine Camp on Friday afternoon at the end of camp.
See the farm on the morning of the first day of camp and then plan to join us for
the student's oral presentation and celebration, potluck party from 2:00-3:30 pm
at the end of this camp.

Using our horses as models, equine life cycles and life
stages will be taught along with the best way to ensure a healthy horse. |

Hands-On Horse Time |
Students will learn the anatomy of a horse, learn about
different tack and equipment used and why, learn skills in how to lead a horse, how
to appropriately groom a horse, how to safely mount and dismount and lastly students
will be taught the basics of how to ride a horse or a new-to-the-student, riding
technique. |

Soup’s on Lunch Time |
Students will be instructed in hygiene and manners
as well as, how to recycle and compost the waste from their lunches. Students
need to bring their own healthy, cold lunch. |

Meet the Vet |
Students will have an opportunity to learn from an
expert Equine Veterinarian. Each day, students will explore one of five stages
of a diagnostic plan a veterinarian uses when treating horses. Analytical thinking
as well as the importance of clear communication will be emphasized. |

With the help of OMF staff, students will develop a
diagnostic plan for an equine and present their plan orally on the last day of the
session. Friends and family are invited. |

Students will participate in discussions of what equine
related careers are available now and explore other animal related career options
in the future. |

Wrap-up and evaluation of the day through group discussion.
The focus will be on celebrating personal successes and giving constructive ideas for
improvement along with guidance on giving and receiving compliments. |

The class ends each day at 3:30, student supervision will
not be available past that time. |
Students may not participate without this completed and signed Student Permission Slip.
It is to be filled out and mailed along with payment by the Parent/Guardian of each student.
Please copy this form for your records and send the original Student Permission
Slip with original signature along with registration payment and the transportation fee
(if needed) to OMF, PO Box 326, Corbett, OR 97019. If you do not receive a post card
confirmation from OMF within two weeks after you sent payment please call to confirm as
there is likely a problem. Pre-registration is required and you are registered for what
is written on the return card. Please read the card. Please do not change dates of
